Tags are internal identifiers that are used to categorize your contacts. Amplified allows you to add tags to your contacts so you can easily organize them into segments later on down the line. There are two types of tags in Amplified; Shopify Tags & Amplified Tags.
These are contact tags imported from your Shopify account. These tags can only be changed within your Shopify account, after which they will sync automatically in Amplified.
These are tags manually assigned to a contact in Amplified. You can add these tags in two ways: through the dashboard or through the import/export function.

To help you through the process, we've outlined the steps to Tag customers using import/export.
To manually add a tag through the Amplified dashboard, follow these simple steps:
- Choose the contact you want to tag. Click on the pencil icon to edit the contact's information.
- In the tags section, click the plus icon and type the tag you would like to add.
- Click Save.
